Nephrologist in Mexico
Nephrology is the medical specialty that deals with diseases of the kidney and with the disorders that affect its function. People who come to the nephrologist's office often have swelling in the legs or face, blood pressure that is difficult to control, foam or blood in the urine, or laboratory results that show a kidney not filtering as it should.

When to see one?
It is worth being assessed when signs appear such as kidney disease in its various stages, episodes of acute kidney injury, or a progressive deterioration toward kidney failure. Also when there are kidney stones or recurrent kidney lithiasis, or recurrent urinary tract infections that never quite resolve.
Conditions treated
Among the problems they frequently assess are glomerulonephritis, the different forms of kidney disease, and, in its most advanced phase, end-stage kidney disease, which may require treatments that replace kidney function.
What is the visit like?
The nephrologist reviews the clinical history, blood pressure, and blood and urine studies that reflect how the kidney is working. From there they guide the follow-up and, when needed, coordinate with other areas such as urology or nutrition.
