I am Dr. Keila Pinedo, gynecologist graduated from Centro Medico de Occidente IMSS in Guadalajara, Jalisco, and maternal-fetal physician graduated from the Instituto Nacional de Perinatologia. My goal is the proper evaluation of your baby; here is a breakdown by trimester of what we evaluate: ----1ST TRIMESTER (11 to 13.6 weeks): We perform an examination of the entire basic anatomical structure of the baby, presence of the four extremities, internal structure of the skull, chest, and abdomen; we look for specific markers to establish the risk for DOWN SYNDROME such as: nuchal translucency, nasal bone, tricuspid regurgitation, and ductus venosus. ----2ND TRIMESTER (18 to 24 weeks): Detailed examination of all structures: head, midline, lateral ventricles, cisterna magna, fetal profile, integrity of the upper lip and nose, finger and toe count, detailed evaluation of the heart, presence of the stomach, integrity of the abdominal wall, measurement of all the fetus's tubular bones. ----3RD TRIMESTER (28-36 weeks): The focus is mainly on fetal growth to know if it has an adequate weight for the age; we also measure the main blood flows (doppler). We also perform invasive procedures for diagnostic confirmation: -CHORIONIC VILLUS SAMPLING -AMNIOCENTESIS -AMNIOREDUCTION
