Pulmonologist graduated from the Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico. Master of Medical Sciences (UNAM 1995).Researcher at the Department of Smoking and COPD Research and Coordinator of the COPD Clinic at the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias. Head of the Chronic Obstructive Diseases Pavilion at the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias. Period 1996-2003; Period 2008-2013.Member of the Sistema Nacional de Investigadores de Mexico. (Since 1995) Currently Level II.Director of the COPD Department of ALAT (Asociacion Latinoamericana de Torax) Period 2010-2012. Research Lines: 1) Clinical Research on Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease with emphasis on the COPD phenotype associated with biomass and 2) Smoking: Treatment; 3) Influenza and the lung. Member of Scientific Associations such as the American Thoracic Society (ATS), Sociedad Mexicana de Neumologia y Cirugia de Torax (SMNyCT), Asociacion Latinoamericana de Torax (ALAT) and European Respiratory Society (ERS) Researcher of the Influenza Network of the National Institutes of Health. Period 2009-2017. Co-author of more than 120 scientific publications (COPD, smoking and Influenza) in prestigious national and international journals, as well as textbooks. Over these 30 years I have dedicated myself to working for the respiratory health of women in rural areas exposed to wood smoke used for cooking. Researcher at the Centro Respiratorio de Mexico, conducting multicenter clinical trials in respiratory diseases.
