Founder of the Clinical Neurophysiology Section of the Neurophysiology Division (DNF) of the Biomedical Research Department of the Centro Medico Nacional (CMN) IMSS (1972), named Head of the Section in 1982 and Head of the Neurophysiology Division from 1991 to 1998. Director of the Agreement between the Clinical Neurophysiology Section of CMN-IMSS and the Neurology and Neurosurgery Service of Hospital General de Mexico (HGM) to found the Functional Neurosurgery and Stereotaxy Unit (1972), for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with involuntary movements, epilepsy, pain, hypothalamic-pituitary pathology, and psychiatric disorders refractory to medical treatment, where multidisciplinary clinics were created for the study and treatment of these conditions, which have served for the medical care of numerous patients and the education of Advanced Specialty, Master's, and Doctoral students. The Unit's equipment was completed with a CONACyT-IMSS Matching Funds infrastructure project to found the Center for the Study and Treatment of patients with Difficult-to-Control Epilepsy (CEDIC). Equipped with video EEG, intracranial and micro-electrode recordings, evoked potentials, Stereotaxy equipment, digitized stereotactic planning and Radiosurgery, establishing the Radiosurgery Clinic in collaboration with the radiotherapists, nuclear physicists, and radiotherapy technicians of the Oncology Service of HGM (1999). The Unit's name changed to Functional Neurosurgery, Stereotaxy, and Radiosurgery Unit (UNFER). Member of the Research Committee of Hospital General de Mexico from 1984-1994, Director of Research at HGM from 2008-2010, Titular Researcher "F" of the National Institutes of Health and Advanced Specialty Hospitals, and Member of the Advisory Council of the Research Directorate of Hospital General de Mexico "Dr. Eduardo Liceaga" (2009). Member of the National System of Researchers (1986-) at Level III for 25 years. Author or co-author of 179 publications in journals with impact factor (JCR) and 34 publications in outreach journals and 63 book chapters, 39 international and 24 national (h-index=36 and JCR citations=4881), which have earned 15 National Awards and 9 International Awards
