About the Doctor
Good day, I am Dr. Laura Becerra, I have a specialty in Nephrology (Kidney Diseases); since my early days in the Medicine program I fell in love with this specialty, I have spent 13 years in contact with patients with impaired kidney function. Unfortunately, given the lack of prevention in our society, most are patients with End-Stage Chronic Kidney Disease who require starting Peritoneal Dialysis, Hemodialysis, or Kidney Transplant as the only option for life. It is a very draining disease, not only for the patient, but for the whole family and friends around them, which greatly diminishes our patients' quality of life. My goal during my specialty training was to improve my patients' quality of life, at whatever stage they are in, to extend the life of our kidneys as much as possible, and if that is not viable, to try to have my patients arrive in the best condition for renal support therapy. It will be a pleasure for me to be able to care for you and look after what we love most... our kidneys!! Remember that prevention is the key to preserving your health and that of your family.
