About the Doctor

Dr. Moises Fiesco-Roa Physician specializing in Medical Genetics Master in Medical Sciences I am a clinical geneticist with formal training in clinical and epidemiological research. Since 2011 I have evaluated patients with various genetic conditions: bone dysplasias, familial cancer and cancer predisposition syndromes, intellectual disability, epilepsy, movement disorders, inborn errors of metabolism, congenital malformations, among others. I have presented clinical, basic, and epidemiological research at various national and international forums, and I have built collaborative ties with researchers around the world, opening doors to the characterization of genetic syndromes and directly benefiting patients and their families. My main interest is epidemiological, clinical, and translational research in Genetics, particularly in dysmorphology and cancer predisposition syndromes. Currently, I am part of a national project seeking to create the national registry of patients with Fanconi anemia (FA). This is an interdisciplinary, multi-center project whose objectives are: to collect and analyze sociodemographic, clinical, cytogenetic, and molecular information on FA patients; to disseminate knowledge among patients, patient organizations, physicians, and researchers, impacting suspicion, diagnosis, and management of FA; to generate scientific information on developmental alterations, bone marrow failure, cancer, and epidemiology of FA; to seek genotype-phenotype associations in FA; and, potentially, to expand this effort to other hereditary bone marrow failure syndromes. I am currently attached to the Instituto Nacional de Pediatria as a doctoral student in Medical Sciences-UNAM, and to the Facultad de Medicina of UNAM as a course instructor in the Department of Embryology and Genetics.
