About the Doctor

I am Dr. Nidia Karen Castillon Benavides, physician and surgeon, graduate of the School of Medicine of the Universidad Autonoma de Nayarit. I completed the Pediatrics specialty at Hospital Materno Infantil of ISSEMyM, a program endorsed by the Universidad Autonoma del Estado de Mexico, and I am certified by the Consejo Mexicano de Pediatria. I completed the Allergy and Immunology subspecialty at the Instituto Nacional de Enfermedades Respiratorias "Ismael Cosio Villegas," and I am certified by the Consejo Nacional de Inmunologia Clinica y Alergia. I completed a Master's in Health Sciences with a focus in Immunology at the Escuela Superior de Medicina of the Instituto Politecnico Nacional. My specialty focuses on the care of allergic diseases as well as disorders of the immune system or defenses. By identifying the type of allergy, immunotherapy (allergy shots) can be offered, which will modify the natural course of allergic diseases, with the goal of developing tolerance and thereby improving quality of life and preventing new allergic diseases. The maturity of the immune system develops with growth; in certain cases we face alterations in the function and number of cells responsible for mounting an immune response, and that is when primary or secondary immunodeficiencies are diagnosed. I have been an attendee and speaker at national and international conferences, in addition to having a background in teaching activities, which allows me to stay up to date and in constant continuing medical education to offer the best care to my patients.
