What does a Child Psychiatrist do? It is the physician specialist for treating certain conditions in children such as: Difficulty paying attention, concentrating, and learning at school. We also handle evaluating their development (language, motor skills, sphincter control, social and emotional development). Our academic training (one studies general medicine, general Psychiatry for 4 years, and two more years of Child Psychiatry to subspecialize in children). This allows us to treat children with Autism. Children with mood disorders such as depression, or who are dealing with serious medical illnesses (leukemia, kidney failure, cancer). We can also provide guidance to Parents facing difficulties in managing the behavior of children or adolescents.
