About the Doctor
One of the most common causes of disability, both in the physically active patient and in the adult patient, is joint injuries; these can be of traumatic origin during a demanding physical activity or degenerative, the so-called osteoarthritis, leading to a significant functional limitation, withdrawal from all sports activity, and most importantly, to permanent pain that deteriorates quality of life. As a physician and athlete myself, I understand the importance of reintegrating the patient into both their daily and sports activities, this being the ultimate goal of my medical practice. Proper management of joint injuries requires thorough preparation and training as an orthopedist, which is why I continued my training after completing my Orthopedics specialty, taking two advanced specialty courses in the area I am passionate about, both at the Instituto Nacional de Rehabilitacion, an advanced specialty in Joint Surgery-hip and knee joint replacements (prostheses) and a second advanced specialty course in Arthroscopy and sports injuries, completing my training with a Travel Fellowship at one of the most recognized hospitals in the USA, the New England Baptist Hospital in the city of Boston, which is the hospital for the professional basketball team the Boston Celtics as well as the representative sports teams of Harvard University, all with the goal of giving the best possible treatment to my patients, both conservatively without surgery and surgically.
