If your baby was born premature or with a serious illness, injury, or birth defect, a neonatology specialist may be present at the time of delivery and during the newborn's subsequent care. If a problem is identified before your baby is born, a neonatology specialist may take part, together with your obstetrician, in the baby's care during your pregnancy.
