About the Doctor
The psychological therapy session generally lasts an hour and we meet once a week or every two weeks depending on the reason for the visit. Within this session the goal is to create an environment of trust, where the patient feels understood and safe to share their deepest feelings. I have had the good fortune to have had the opportunity to train professionally within and outside the country and to have obtained outstanding grades with honorable mention. However, the love, passion, and respect for this noble work come from my heart. In short, I LOVE my work and feel a deep respect for each of my patients. When people go to psychological therapy, they go with the hope of being told that their pain will end at some point. Explaining to the patient that the pain in the chest, the throat, the stomach (they really feel physical pain, caused by emotional pain) is a way in which emotions communicate... they have something to say. Deciphering the message requires journeys through time, going through their life story from their earliest childhood, through the identity-formation stage that is adolescence, all the way to the HERE and NOW. The goal is to put together the puzzle that connects each piece with the child, the adolescent, and the adult, reconstructing a new person, aware that they are the result of everything they have lived. Accompanying the patient at every stage of their life, discovering together a new perspective on the experience, seeing the wonder in their eyes when they finally understand how to talk with the pain, how to manage it and give it meaning, I feel a sense of complete satisfaction that I have done something for a human being who needs to feel well. Being a therapist is a job in which I can see and feel people's happiness, pain, hope, disappointment; it feels almost as if emotions had shape and color. It is creative work, where the patient and the therapist create a story that is written day by day with imagination, empathy, and above all compassion for oneself.
