About the Doctor
More than 10 years of experience in conditions affecting vision of genetic origin. My main clinical and research interests include genetic diseases that cause blindness or low vision, such as: retinal dystrophies, congenital cataract, ocular malformations, childhood glaucoma, common or rare eye diseases, and genetic syndromes in children and adults. Among my academic training, notably I completed a Master's in Genetics and Genomics at the Universidad de Barcelona (Barcelona, Spain); I was the first graduate nationwide of the Advanced Specialty Postgraduate program in Ophthalmic Genetics held at the Asociación Para Evitar la Ceguera en México (APEC/UNAM). I completed the Medical Genetics specialty at the Instituto Nacional de Pediatría (INP/UNAM). During my professional development I completed a stay at the Cleveland Clinic in the Pediatric Ophthalmology Department and at the Center for Genetic Eye Diseases (Cleveland Clinic's Cole Eye Institute).
