Subcutaneous Abscess

A subcutaneous abscess is a collection of pus that forms beneath the skin, generally as the body's response to an infection. It is felt as a raised, reddened, and tender area.

Frequent symptoms: Painful swelling, redness, warmth in the affected area, and, at times, fever or general malaise.

Common causes: It usually originates when bacteria enter through small wounds, follicles, or glands of the skin.

When to see a doctor? If the lesion grows, hurts significantly, there is fever, or it does not improve, a professional evaluation is advisable.
