Absent Pulmonary Valve

Absent pulmonary valve is a heart malformation present from birth, in which the valve that regulates the passage of blood from the heart to the lungs does not develop normally.

How it presents: Depending on the case, there may be difficulty breathing, fatigue during feeding in babies, a heart murmur audible on auscultation, or fatigue that appears easily.

When is it detected? It is often identified during heart examinations in childhood, and even before birth through specialized imaging studies.

The pediatric cardiologist and the cardiologist evaluate how the heart works, the pediatrician oversees the child's general development, and the cardiovascular and thoracic surgeon takes part when a correction is needed.
