Blastomycosis

Blastomycosis is a fungal infection caused by inhaling spores of a fungus found in moist soil and decomposing organic matter, which mainly affects the lungs.

Common causes: It arises from breathing in spores after disturbing soil, leaf litter, or wood in environments favorable to the fungus; outdoor activities can increase exposure.

Common symptoms: It frequently causes cough, fever, shortness of breath, and fatigue, and can sometimes involve the skin or other organs.
