Ear Blockage

Ear blockage is a sensation of obstruction or plugging of the ear canal, which can be due to different causes.

Common causes: buildup of earwax, pressure changes, water trapped after swimming, or congestion associated with colds and allergies that affect the Eustachian tube.

Common symptoms: a feeling of a full ear, muffled hearing, mild ringing, and, at times, discomfort or dizziness.

Who treats it? The otolaryngologist can examine the canal and the eardrum membrane to determine the source of the blockage. It is advisable not to insert objects into the ear and, if the sensation persists, to consult a professional.
