Amniotic Bands

Amniotic bands are bands of tissue that can form inside the amniotic sac during pregnancy and, in some cases, wrap around parts of the developing baby's body. Their effect varies depending on the affected area.

How they are detected: they are usually identified through imaging studies during prenatal care or after birth, upon observing marks or constrictions on fingers, arms, or legs.

The gynecologist provides follow-up during the pregnancy and coordinates the necessary studies, while the pediatrician assesses the newborn and provides guidance on the steps to follow.
