Lactase Deficiency

Lactase deficiency is a reduction in the enzyme responsible for digesting lactose, the sugar found in milk and dairy products. When this enzyme is lacking, lactose is not properly processed in the intestine and causes digestive discomfort.

Common symptoms: bloating, gas, cramping, and diarrhea that appear after consuming dairy. The intensity varies depending on the amount consumed and each person's sensitivity.
