Displacement

The term displacement, in the orthopedic setting, refers to the loss of the normal position of a body structure, such as a bone, a bone fragment, or a joint, which moves out of its usual place.

Common symptoms: pain in the affected area, difficulty or limitation in moving the involved part, visible deformity, or a sensation of instability, depending on the structure involved.

Common causes: it is usually related to trauma, falls, or strain, and in childhood it may be linked to particularities of bone and joint development.
