Boils

Boils are skin infections that form around the hair follicle, giving rise to a reddened, painful bump with a buildup of pus inside. They usually appear in areas of friction or sweating.

Common symptoms: a warm, tender lump that grows little by little, redness of the surrounding skin and, at times, a white or yellowish head. It is sometimes accompanied by a general feeling of being unwell.

Common causes: most are related to bacteria that live on the skin and enter through small wounds or blocked follicles. Poor hygiene, friction, and certain health conditions can favor them.
