Double Outlet Right Ventricle with Noncommitted Ventricular Septal Defect

Because it is a heart disease present from birth, double outlet right ventricle (DORV) with uncommitted ventricular septal defect is studied by the pediatric cardiologist together with the pediatrician. In this condition the great arteries arise mostly from the right ventricle and there is an opening between the ventricles whose position does not directly interfere with the outflow of blood toward the arteries.

What is it? It is a malformation of the heart in which the relationship between the main vessels and the ventricular septal defect conditions the path of blood within the organ.

Possible manifestations: Fatigue, rapid breathing, sweating when feeding, or difficulty growing, depending on the degree of impact.

When to seek care? If a baby presents fatigue when eating, bluish color, or labored breathing, a professional evaluation allows the case to be characterized and follow-up to be planned.
