Arteriosclerotic heart disease is a heart condition caused by the buildup of plaque in the coronary arteries, which narrows these vessels and hinders the arrival of blood to the heart muscle.

Symptoms that may appear: pain or pressure in the chest, shortness of breath, fatigue, or discomfort that intensifies with exertion.

Warning signs: intense chest pain or pain that radiates, which requires immediate care.

Which specialist treats it? The cardiologist is the one who studies the heart and arteries, with support from the cardiovascular surgeon when appropriate and from the nephrologist in the presence of associated conditions; in an emergency the emergency physician is involved. When there are chest symptoms, it is not a good idea to postpone evaluation by a professional.
