Erysipelas

Erysipelas is an infection of the skin and the tissue beneath it that usually appears suddenly, with an area that is reddened, warm, swollen, and with well-defined edges, often accompanied by fever and general malaise.

Common symptoms: a bright red plaque, pain, and a sensation of warmth in the affected area, which appears especially on the legs or face; sometimes chills and swollen lymph nodes are added.

Common causes: it is generally caused by bacteria entering through small wounds, cracks, or bites; circulation problems or chronic swelling can favor it.
