Fusion of the Ossicles

Fusion of the ear bones, known medically as ankylosis of the middle ear ossicles, occurs when the small chain of bones that transmits sound loses its mobility due to a rigid union between them or with their surroundings. This interferes with the normal conduction of sound to the inner ear.
