Familial Hypertriglyceridemia

Familial hypertriglyceridemia is an inherited condition in which the body maintains elevated levels of triglycerides, a type of fat that circulates in the blood. Because it is passed down in families, it can occur in several of its members.

How is it detected? It generally causes no obvious symptoms and is discovered on routine blood tests; with very high levels, other manifestations may appear.
