Adrenal Insufficiency

When the body shows marked fatigue, dizziness, or persistent changes that are not easily explained, one of the possibilities to study is adrenal insufficiency, a condition in which the adrenal glands do not produce enough hormones, such as cortisol, needed to regulate vital functions.

Frequent symptoms:

• Intense fatigue and weakness
• Dizziness or low blood pressure
• Loss of appetite and weight
• Changes in skin coloration

Possible causes: It may be due to disorders of the glands themselves or of the structures that regulate their functioning.

Which specialist treats it?: Its study corresponds to the endocrinologist and, in children, to the pediatric endocrinologist. If the symptoms are persistent or intensify, the most sensible thing is to have a professional evaluate the case and guide the hormonal tests.
