Leishmaniasis

Leishmaniasis is an infectious disease caused by parasites of the genus Leishmania that are transmitted by the bite of small sandflies. Depending on the form, it can affect the skin or, less frequently, internal organs.

Common symptoms: in its cutaneous form, one or several skin lesions usually appear that are slow to heal, sometimes with ulcers or nodules in exposed areas such as the face, arms or legs.
