Lymphangitis

Lymphangitis is the inflammation of the lymphatic vessels, the channels that carry lymph through the body, and it usually appears when an infection of the skin or nearby tissues spreads into that system.

Common symptoms: It is typical to see reddish lines on the skin that advance from the affected area toward the lymph nodes, along with pain, local warmth, swelling and, at times, fever and general malaise.

When to see a doctor? The appearance of these red lines or of fever accompanying a wound or infection warrants attention without delay.
