Histiocytic Lymphoma

The hematologist is the specialist who studies tumors of the lymphatic system, among them the one called histiocytic lymphoma, a rare form of lymphoma originating in large cells.

What it is: It is a neoplasm of the lymphoid tissue in which cells of histiocytic appearance proliferate. Today these entities are classified within large cell lymphomas according to updated criteria.

Common symptoms: It may show up with growth of the lymph nodes, fever without a clear cause, sweats, or weight loss, although the manifestations vary from person to person.

When to seek care? When there are lymph nodes that grow or general symptoms that go unexplained, a timely review with the hematologist allows the condition to be studied and to pinpoint what it is.
