Mediastinal Lymphoma

Mediastinal lymphoma is a type of cancer of the lymphatic system that originates or is located in the mediastinum, the central space of the chest situated between the lungs, where lymph nodes, the thymus, and large vessels are housed.

Common symptoms: it may present with persistent cough, difficulty breathing, a feeling of pressure in the chest, swelling in the face or neck and, at times, fever or unexplained weight loss.

When to seek care? It is advisable to evaluate any respiratory discomfort that does not subside or the finding of a chest mass on imaging studies.

Which specialist treats it? Its management usually involves an oncologist, and when radiation therapy is required, the radiation therapist and the radiation oncologist come into play.
