Mastalgia

Mastalgia is pain or discomfort in one or both breasts, one of the most frequent reasons for consultation related to the breast. It can be occasional or present in a more sustained way.

Types and symptoms: sometimes the pain is related to the hormonal cycle and on other occasions it does not follow that pattern; it may feel like heaviness, tension, or tenderness to the touch.

When to seek care? An evaluation is advisable when the pain is persistent, is located at a fixed point, or is accompanied by other breast changes that draw attention.
