Medulloblastoma in Children

Medulloblastoma is a brain tumor that originates in the cerebellum, the region located at the back of the brain responsible for balance and coordination. It is one of the most common nervous system tumors in childhood.

Signs that may appear in the child:

• Headache, especially upon waking
• Vomiting with no clear digestive cause
• Problems with balance or walking

How it is studied: Its evaluation requires brain imaging studies and the involvement of a specialized team.

Who treats it? The pediatric oncologist, together with the pediatrician, are the ones who coordinate the workup and follow-up in children. If your child has persistent headache with vomiting or difficulty coordinating movements, seek a timely medical evaluation.
