Mycetoma

Mycetoma is a chronic infection of the skin and deep tissues, which can also affect bone, caused by certain fungi or bacteria that enter through a wound, almost always in the foot. It is more common in people who work in the countryside.

Common manifestations: Progressive swelling of the area, firm nodules, and the formation of small openings through which material with characteristic grains drains. It tends to advance slowly and deform the foot.
