Avascular Necrosis

Avascular necrosis is the death of bone tissue due to an interruption or decrease in the blood supply that nourishes it. When it loses its blood supply, the bone weakens progressively, most frequently in areas such as the hip.

Common symptoms: In early stages it may go unnoticed; over time joint pain usually appears that increases with movement and limits activity.
