Pulp Necrosis

Pulp necrosis is the death of the tissue found inside the tooth, called the pulp, which loses its vitality when it stops receiving blood supply or after prolonged inflammation.

How it shows up: It may run its course without pain in some stages, or with a darkened tooth, bad taste, or discomfort when chewing; at times it precedes an infection.

Common causes: It usually originates from untreated deep cavities, dental trauma, or a pulpitis that advanced without treatment.
