Distal median nerve neuropathy is an involvement of the median nerve along its course near the wrist and hand, which alters sensation and strength in part of the hand. It is usually related to compression of this nerve.

Common symptoms: Tingling, numbness, or pain in the thumb and neighboring fingers, weakness when gripping objects, and discomfort that sometimes increases at night.
