Bradycardia-Tachycardia Syndrome

Bradycardia-tachycardia syndrome is a form of sinus node dysfunction of the heart in which periods of overly slow heartbeats alternate with episodes of rapid heartbeats. It is part of what is called sick sinus syndrome and alters the rhythm at which the heart beats.

Frequent symptoms: it usually presents with dizziness, fatigue, palpitations, a sensation of fainting, or a brief loss of consciousness, which may appear intermittently.

When to see a doctor? A review is important when there is fainting, repeated dizziness, or palpitations that are not explained by another cause, especially if they interfere with daily life.

Which specialist treats it? The study falls to the cardiologist, with support from the pediatric cardiologist when it appears in childhood, and from the internist in the general evaluation. If you notice alterations in your heart's rhythm, it is advisable to have a cardiologist perform a detailed evaluation.
