Myeloproliferative Disorder

Myeloproliferative disorders are a group of bone marrow diseases in which it produces an excess of blood cells, whether red blood cells, white blood cells, or platelets, disrupting the normal balance of the blood.

Common manifestations: Fatigue, headache, a feeling of abdominal fullness, itching, sweating, or abnormal findings on routine blood tests may appear.

When is a review advisable? For unexplained fatigue, abnormalities detected on a complete blood count, or persistent discomfort, it is reasonable to seek an evaluation.

Which specialist treats them? They fall to the hematologist, who studies diseases of the blood and bone marrow. If a test shows results outside the expected range, discussing them with a hematologist makes it possible to clarify their meaning and provide appropriate follow-up.
