Bleeding disorders are a group of conditions in which the blood does not clot properly, causing bleeding that is easier or more prolonged than normal.

Common symptoms:

• bruises that appear easily
• heavy bleeding from small wounds or in the gums and nose
• in some people, internal bleeding

Possible causes: they may be inherited or arise from other conditions that affect clotting.
