Adrenal Tumor

An adrenal tumor is a growth that appears in one of the adrenal glands, located on top of the kidneys and responsible for producing hormones that regulate functions such as fluid balance, blood pressure, and the response to stress. Many of these tumors are benign.

Possible signs: Some produce no symptoms and are discovered by chance; others can alter blood pressure, weight, or hormonal balance.

When is it worth evaluating? With unexplained hormonal changes or when an imaging study reveals a mass in that area.

Which specialists treat it? The endocrinologist studies the hormonal behavior and, when surgery is necessary, the general surgeon or other surgeons step in; the oncologist takes part if malignancy is suspected. The advisable course is to determine the follow-up together with a health professional.
