Wolff-Parkinson-White Syndrome

Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome (WPW) is an alteration of the heart's electrical system in which there is an additional conduction pathway between the atria and the ventricles, which can trigger episodes of rapid heart rhythm.

Common symptoms: Some people have no discomfort, while others notice palpitations, a feeling that the heart is beating very fast, dizziness, shortness of breath, or, at times, fainting.

When to seek care? A medical evaluation is advisable with recurrent palpitations, episodes of a very rapid pulse with no apparent cause, or loss of consciousness.
