When do they step in?

They come into play when the physician needs to visualize organs, bones, or tissues. Through imaging studies, they help evaluate conditions such as benign breast disease or osteoarthritis.

What does their work support?

• Evaluation of joints and tendons, as in tenosynovitis
• Study of inflammatory tendon injuries
• Support in the follow-up of chronic diseases such as diabetes
• Detection of vascular disorders, such as a thoracic aortic aneurysm

What is the study like?

It is performed with imaging equipment and, depending on the type, may require some advance preparation. The radiologist interprets the results and issues a report that guides the treating physician.
