Postinfectious glomerulonephritis is an inflammation of the glomeruli, the filtering units of the kidney, that appears days or weeks after certain infections, frequently of the throat or skin. The immune system reacts and temporarily affects kidney function.

Common symptoms: Dark-colored or bloody urine, swelling in the face or legs, decreased urine and, at times, increased blood pressure.
