I am a young ophthalmologist, originally from Chihuahua, committed to improving the visual health of my community. I hold an advanced specialty in retina and a fellowship in pediatric retina and pediatric ophthalmology. The ophthalmologist is the physician specialized in diagnosing and treating eye problems. These exams are recommended for everyone annually in order to detect, in time, diseases that if found late could cause blindness. In a routine ophthalmologic consultation, visual acuity (how well the patient can see), prescription, eye movement problems, fundus exam, intraocular pressure, among others, are evaluated. There are hundreds of diseases that affect an organ as small as the eye. The most common are: cataract, glaucoma, problems secondary to diabetes, among others. In the retina consultation, holes or lesions can be detected early that could end in retinal detachment or irreversible blindness. Many patients, such as those with diabetes, cancer patients, or premature newborns, require periodic and timely evaluations to avoid these complications. I have the professional training needed to manage various ophthalmologic problems such as those described above. I trained in ophthalmology and in retina and vitreous at the Hospital de la Luz (the first institution in Latin America in this field). I have participated in various publications and national and international congresses. I belong to several scientific societies and am certified by the Consejo Mexicano de Oftalmologia and the International Council of Ophthalmology in all their evaluations. I also hold a fellow degree from the latter and was awarded a scholarship to study Pediatric Ophthalmology and Retina at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universitat in Munich, Germany.
