SPANISH VERSION. A little about me… First, please receive a cordial greeting. My name is Jorge Alberto Juarez Varela, urological surgeon, medical-surgical specialty, focused on the comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the urinary system, adrenal gland, retroperitoneal space in both men and women; and the male genital system. I was born in Zacatecas, but I have grown up my whole life in the city of Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes, which is why I also consider myself “Hidrocalido.” I grew up surrounded by the medical environment from an early age. My father, Dr. Eleazar Juarez Alamillo, a renowned urologist in Aguascalientes, was the one who first introduced me to this specialty. I completed my high school studies at the Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey, Campus Aguascalientes, graduating with honorable mention. I completed my studies as a general physician at the Universidad Autonoma de Aguascalientes from 2011 to 2018, and I likewise had the privilege of graduating with honorable mention. Afterward, I traveled and lived for 5 years in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, in order to pursue the specialty I was passionate about, Urology. I decided to pursue the specialty in this city, since Monterrey is the pioneering city in all of Latin America in minimally invasive surgery, which includes laparoscopy, robot-assisted laparoscopy (Da Vinci-Intuitive System), and advanced endourology (Percutaneous Nephrolithotomies). I had the honor of completing my residency at Hospital General del Zona No. 33, endorsed by the Universidad de Monterrey. I had the opportunity to complete a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Surgery in Madrid, Spain, at the Instituto de Cirugia Urologica Avanzada / CEMTRO, with Dr. Fernando Gomez Sancha as a mentor, a physician who pioneered prostate enucleation with Holmium and Thulium lasers worldwide. At that institution I also received training in robotic surgery with the Da Vinci System. After finishing my residency, I decided to return to my city of Aguascalientes, with the purpose of practicing my profession fully, but above all to serve the population of my state, and to give back a bit of all that it has given me. I am currently on staff in the Urology service at Hospital StarMedica Aguascalientes and Hospital MAC NORTE, which are the best hospitals in the state. I am at your service.
