About the Doctor

Dr. Juan Pablo Muñoz Montufar is a Pediatric Neurologist certified by the Consejo Mexicano de Neurología with postgraduate studies at the Instituto Nacional de Pediatría; one of the most important hospitals in high-specialty pediatric care in Mexico, during the period 2007 to 2009. During 2009 to 2011 he completed the subspecialty in Clinical Neurophysiology at the Hospital de Pediatría of the Centro Médico Nacional Siglo XXI, where he has served as staff physician and collaborating professor of the Clinical Neurophysiology and Pediatric Neurology specialty for more than a decade. He is an active member of the Academia Mexicana de Neurología and the Sociedad Mexicana de Neurología Pediátrica, where he has participated in national and international congresses as an attendee, guest professor, and researcher. He has published research papers in national and foreign journals, in addition to having extensive experience managing neurological diseases such as drug-resistant epilepsy, neurodevelopmental disorders, infantile cerebral palsy, neuromuscular diseases, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder, behavioral and learning disorders, neurocutaneous syndromes, multiple sclerosis in children and adolescents, among other conditions affecting the nervous system. In addition to his experience in Pediatric Neurology, he holds a specialization in Clinical Neurophysiology, endorsed by UNAM and certified by the Consejo Mexicano de Neurofisiología Clínica, which has allowed him a better approach to neurological conditions, not only cerebral, but also of nerves and muscles, such as congenital neuropathies, Guillain Barré syndrome, congenital and inflammatory myopathies, myasthenia gravis, radiculopathies, among others. All of the above using high-specialty techniques such as digital electroencephalography, brain mapping, auditory and visual evoked potentials, electromyography, nerve conduction studies, among other functional nervous system exploration procedures, which he practices not only in his day-to-day office visits, but also in the setting of central and peripheral nervous system surgeries, using advanced exploration techniques such as intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring, in which he also has extensive experience.
