With 15 years of experience. *My interest in the systemic approach was born from my research, which sought to understand why people relapse into their illness when returning to the family system in which the illness had originated. The family is a group of people emotionally bonded who have lived together long enough to have developed patterns of interaction and stories that explain the way they relate to each other. Generally, change in one family member is linked to change in the others. Feeling understood by another is the antidote against fear and loneliness, and it is the key to the motivation to feel close to others and fully explore the world. Allen 2012
