Dr. Marcelino Ramirez Marquez

About the Doctor

Dr Ramirez was born in San Jose de la Parrilla, Durango. His medical education was at the Facultad de Medicina of UACH, where he graduated in 1978. He completed his rotating residency introducing him to the specialty at Hospital Ferrocarriles in Chihuahua, Chih., and later completed a residency at the Hospital Central in the same city. In 1984 he obtained the title of Specialist in Internal Medicine. Upon finishing the specialty in internal medicine he felt he was not satisfied practicing from that perspective, so he was offered the opportunity to pursue the subspecialty of medical oncology at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia, which completely transformed his way of viewing medicine — "the way of seeing patients and how they live their lives; in reality, more than me teaching the patients, they teach me." After finishing his specialty in Medical Oncology he has worked at various local institutions, gaining great experience in the field. Among his publications are the following topics: "Nine years of experience at the Instituto Nacional de Cancerologia in trophoblastic disease," "Effects of M3, a new biological response modifier," "High doses versus standard doses of chemotherapy for locally advanced Breast Cancer," and many other national and international research works. For Dr. Ramirez, in the practice of oncology, "I do what I love most, and at this center I do it in the best way oncology can be practiced."
