About the Doctor

I am Maribel Colín, I have more than 35 years of experience in the clinical field and I obtained my bachelor's degree, master's degree and DOCTORATE IN CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY, the latter from the Universidad de las Américas with certification from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools based in Georgia, United States; my doctoral research work was on depression and anxiety. My therapy is based mainly on the Cognitive Behavioral approach, which has been shown to be more effective than other models for the treatment and intervention of various pathologies and clinical situations; in addition to psychotherapy I apply some specialized intervention techniques such as clinical hypnosis, among others. This intervention can be applied in the family, couple, or individual setting. I have a specialty in gerontological patient care, as well as a specialty in the care of patients with psychiatric disorders (depression, anxiety, attention deficit disorder with/without hyperactivity, eating and food intake disorders, among others) and terminal patients with the application of palliative care. I have specialized training, extensive experience and constant continuing education in patients with addictions and substance use, as well as patients going through loss processes. I also specialize in patients with learning problems through my graduate degree in psycho-pedagogical intervention and educational psychology, and I provide child psychotherapy intervention through my graduate degree in play therapy. I obtained specialized training in the application of psychometric and neuropsychological tests, executive functions and frontal lobes, intelligence and determination of intellectual quotient (children, adults and intellectual developmental disorders); I hold clinical accreditation in the application of diagnostic tests for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ADI-R and ADOS-2).
