About the Doctor

Dr. Milton Maldonado is an outstanding ophthalmic surgeon, expert in vitreoretinal surgery and one of the few uveitis specialists in all of Mexico. His expertise includes microincision cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, retinal detachment surgery, management of diabetic retinopathy, treatment of age-related macular degeneration, management of ocular trauma, among others. He has more than 15 years of experience at prestigious institutions such as Fundación Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Luz, the oldest ophthalmology hospital in Latin America. He trained as an ophthalmic surgeon at the Instituto Nacional de Oftalmología, in his native Lima, a referral center and leading institution in ophthalmology. He trained in cataract surgery at Hospital Militar Central. He completed his advanced specialty in retina and vitreous at UNAM, and then trained as a uveitis specialist at the same institution. He was a staff physician at Fundación Hospital Nuestra Señora de la Luz and founding physician of Hospital Mexiquense de la Salud Visual. He is part of various associations including the Sociedad Mexicana de Oftalmología, the Asociación Mexicana de Retina, the Asociación Panamericana de Oftalmología, the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Centro Mexicano de Enfermedades Inflamatorias Oculares, where he served as secretary for 2 terms and currently serves as its president. He is certified by the Consejo Mexicano de Oftalmología and is internationally accredited by the International Council of Ophthalmology. He currently runs his private medical practice as medical director of Clínica de Oftalmología Avanzada. Thanks to this, Dr. Maldonado Reinoso is recognized by his colleagues and patients as one of the best specialist physicians in Ophthalmology in Mexico.
